Dan Reardon

Dan Reardon is a retired business executive who has served as President of G.H. Bass and Company, General Manager of the Enterprise Division of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and Chief Executive Officer of H.P. Fairfield, Inc.

For 20 years, Reardon has directed his efforts at addressing the issues of at-risk children throughout Maine. He began volunteering at the Youth Alternatives Emergency Shelter and worked diligently to foster partnerships between for-profit and not-for-profit institutions. In June 2000, the shelter was renamed Reardon’s Place.

For the past seven years, Reardon has been involved in the Long Creek Youth Development Center, formerly the Maine Youth Center. He is assisting in the transition of the facility from a youth corrections institution to a rehabilitation center.

Reardon served as Chairman of the Board for Visitors at Long Creek. He was the first chairman of the newly created State Commission for Community Service and served on the first public board of the Baxter School for the Deaf. Reardon serves on the boards of President’s Council of Youth Alternatives Inc., Portland West Community Development Center, and the Mission Possible Teen Center.

Currently, Reardon is the Executive Director of Stone Soup Foods, a social enterprise organization founded by the Preble Street Resource Center in Portland, Maine. Reardon is also a consultant to the Muskie Institute, where he is responsible for evaluating and streamlining the distribution of child welfare services provided by various state agencies.

Reardon received the Mary Rines Thompson Award in 2001 and The Jefferson Award in 1993 for his work.
