| Arline Erdrich
Arline Erdrich is an established and internationally recognized artist with a 30-year exhibition history. She has received numerous grants and awards.
Born and educated in New York City, Erdrich began her art career there before re-locating to Charleston, West Virginia. In 1983, during a brief visit to the gulf coast of Florida, she discovered Aripeka. At the same time Erdrich met and was befriended by artist James Rosenquist, who was—and still is—a resident there.
Captivated by the beauty of the natural environment, the serenity and incredible vistas of this old fishing village on the Gulf of Mexico, Erdrich made the decision to move to Aripeka, Florida and became committed to preserving this unique area by first founding The Gulf Coast Conservancy and the Aripeka Coastal Greenway in 1992. In 1999 she founded C.A.U.S.E.,inc. (Coalition for Anti-Urban Sprawl & the Environment).
The results of these efforts to date (not the least of which has been the increasing public awareness and altering the environmental perceptions of local officials) are shown in the acquisition of over 6500 acres that had been slated for development and is now “The Weeki-Wachee Preserve.”
